I just had my interview and don't know if I did good or bad, but just sorta feel queasy...phenergin anyone?

But like everyone here, I REALLY REALLY WANT to go to this school, so what do I do next? I've heard of people writing letters of intent, or perhaps calling the dean? What is appropriate, and exactly what is it that I do? (what is a letter of intent?)

any info would help a lot.

thanks

PS I'm writing my thank you notes tonight.

I wrote no thank you notes, I called nobody, I wrote no letters of interest and was still accepted.

Chill is what you should do after your interview.

I wrote thank you notes to my individual interviewers.

All of my interviewers/adm staffs at my schools were extremely friendly, made me feel comfortable and I wanted to let them know.

By the way, I applied last year (to begin in 2004), was interviewed at only one school on their last interview date. Upon receiving my thank you note, one of my interviewers somehow acquired my cell phone # from my app I guess and called me on a Friday night.

He informed me that my interview was great and he'd do everything he could but there just weren't any spots for '04. He encouraged me to re-apply.

The same guy called me in September of '04 and let me know I was accepted without another interview. I have other opportunities this time around but it was nice to get in early!

I have no idea whether the letter had any bearing on my acceptance but I doubt it hurt.

What's next after the interview? the long wait begins: you wait..and you wait..and you wait...and......

and yes i did write thank you notes because I was brought up to always thank people and express my appreciation. I thought all my interviews went well and the interviewers all made me feel comfortable, so I wanted to let them know that. Not saying it helps but it definitely doesn't hurt.

and a letter of intent is a letter attesting to yiour desire to go to their school and guaranteeing (although it's not binding) that if accepted you will go to their school regardles sof where else you are accepted.

Who is the letter addressed to? What's the format? Length, contents, etc?

I'd write it to the dean. There is no standard format. I'd keep it pretty consise since they have already read your app and they are getting plenty of mail. Thank them for the interview and for reviewing your file. Summarize specifically why you like their school and why you would be a good fit there or what you have to offer them. Let them know that if they accept you, you will definitely matriculate there. If you are out of state it's more important to indicate why that area and that school. Keep it less than a page. Good luck.

oh and btw, this is my opinion and in no way is the only proper letter and format. I have not written one myself but know others who have.
