Where do you see yourself in 20 or 30 years when you're in your 50's and 60's? Do you think you'll be practicing EM?

No way. I'm going to be making movies in the porn industry, and peddling crappy facial clensors in infomercials on your TV at 2AM.

I plan to be a miserable old chair somewhere recounting my EM war stories, paying nurses back for all the hell they gave me as a medical student.

I intend to be like the 91 yo patient I had the other day who was a museaum big wig, hitting on all the hot young male doctors...... meeeeeeeeeeoooooooooooooow.



And seriously, I intend to work until I am ready to retire....

I plan on doing a fellowship in CCM and splitting my time between EM and the ICU for 15-20 yrs. Later, I will steadily transition into business/politics at some point close to my late 40's/50's. I figure there's a lot better retirement package in business than in medicine!

 

[beyond all hope]

Go academic, work and do research for 5-10 years, travel a lot, then do as few shifts as possible and do teaching/research/admin while working on my writing and film projects.

Really, who knows? I don't even know what I'm doing for lunch, much less ten years from now.
