Hi. I was a pre-med but switching into Dentistry after I graduated from UC Irvine last year, 2008.

I had 3.8 Overall GPA and 3.87 Science GPA

My Dat score was like 21 for Academic Average, 22 for Science and 20 for PAT.
However, the Verbal was 16 ... while other sciences were around 24

Should I retake the DAT for Verbal if I want to get into UCLA or UCSF or even USC????
Because I see a lot of people get 24 and above for DAT - and the "average" for UCLA was like 22 already.

I don't know how I can be more safe for those schools -

Can anyone comment on my status???

i think you should apply for the janitorial staff. Gpa and dat scores like that are just..disgraceful seriously how did you muster the courage to type them out. I hope you can find a job because failures like you dont go many places in life

You are fine. Just apply. A 16 with the other scores won't kill you... and clearly its not your first language? Most people do not get 24 and above, that statistic is wrong. The average is 18--and you are higher than that. You should be fine.

Im sorry, but I would have to disagree with the last poster. You did great w/ gpa and other sections on DAT, however your reading comp scores will hurt you a lot. Many schools consider reading comp one of the most important sections on the DAT. I would retake. Even if you could keep all the other scores and just bump that one up a few points it would be a huge plus. Good luck!

p.s. I dont know how it is w/ UCLA or UCSF but many schools wont even consider your application if any section (except quant reasoning) is under 17. Something to ask the schools about.
