I posted a thread in relation to NYU earlier, but upon reading some old ('04) threads I got some more questions....

Is it true that a lot of students fail and/or have to go through remediation?

Is there anyone who can find out for me who NYU students do on boards?

Was NYU your only choice? If not, where else did you decline? (the reason I ask this is because i have been accepted to a couple other places, but i liked nyu the best, but now i am rethinking it from all the garbage i have been reading)

Are there any scholarships?

Is there a long wait for clinical/preclinical spots?

thanks!! Sorry, I don't mean to duplicate posts, and this one is a bit different/more specific (i think)... still grappling with this!

I am only a first year but I'll answer what I can. If you fail a class then you have to remediate it. Our midterm averages have been high 70's to mid 80's so not that many people are failing tests. Depending on the nature of the class, it sounds like remediation is hard to fail. The classes, so far, haven't been tricky, like in undergrad so if you study a fair amount you shouldn't have a problem.

I don't know about the average board scores, I don't think that the school releases these numbers. An e-mail did go out mentioning 98.some % of the students passed the first boards this last session.

Many people in my class were accepted into other schools and some weren't. Generally, it seems that many would have attended a state school over NYU if given the chance but among other private schools they would attend NYU. After starting at NYU I agree, the difference in price among private schools isn't really enough to live/attend somewhere you aren't excited about in my opinion.

I have never heard of it being a problem to get chairs or patients at NYU. I don't have first hand experience with this.

There are scholarships.
