To all current waiters, accepted students, current students; what is the deal with NYU? Does anyone know anything in terms of their projected class size this upcoming entering class, seats still available, how long they continue to interview, etc,?

Have they suddenly raised their standards so that decent stats aren't acceptable any longer (i.e, 3.3; 19s DAT)?

Anyone please weigh in!

thanx 😡

Hey Hass:

Thanks for the reply...dude, I applied relatively early (in the summer) with rather decent stats (3.3; 19/18) and nothing. I can't believe ur telling me people with 2.9s r getting accepted to NYU? r u speaking about during this cycle?? I've contacted them and my app is there and complete, I'm really at a loss.

OK please don't let me get started on this topic. NYU is scum. They don't give a crap about any of their students. All they care about is there money and if you try to disagree with me and question my feelings and thoughts, my mother, father, and uncle have graduated form NYU Dental so I have heard enough from them.

First of all, I applied in June and had a good gpa both science and academic and good DATs. I interviewed the first day of interviews at the school. On December 9th, I got a letter stating that I have been waitlisted? Are you kidding me? On December 9th? How do they know who is going to the school yet to be waitlisting people that early. They have no respect. They send my parents flyers and call my house and their office for donations nearly every week. They want a donation from my parents to what? unwaitlist me? Is that how the school works?

NYU is definetly not a nice place for students. It's disgusting to have to interview at a school and have students whispering, " Don't go here." So you know even if I get off this BS waitlist, I still wouldn't ptrobably go there. Buffalo is a much better school and at least all the students there love their school as well.

Dentist 2 be dude, i was on the waitlist for 2 years and did i ever come off!!! (and i was waitlisted in early Jan)

another bad experience with them is that they "can't tell you" or "don't know" how many total seats are in the class. I think if a school does not know in December how many first year students they are going to enroll in the following August, even an estimate, it has MAJOR issues.

Well, that's how they are. I hate when people say it's the easiest school to get into. ITS NOT THE EASIEST, ITS THE MOST ******ED

I dunno, I've had great experiences with NYU...

I got a phone call from them telling me that I'll be getting an interview.... the lady who worked there was really nice and the gal that gave us the tour was pretty cute and fun.... during the interview i was told of my prospects and 2 days later my interviewer called my cellphone and told me that I'm in....

so... I'm going to disagree with the above posts and just say I had a great experience overall with them so far.

uh... there are other things to the application process than just numbers. There's a reason your application wasn't just "send us your transcripts and DAT scores". Decent stats doesn't guarantee admittance.

Thanx all for your input and personal accounts...I honestly dont know what to believe b/c of all the disparity pertaining to NYU. I'm really at a loss and the fact that no information is provided with respect to anything is really very annoying. Dunno people, but thanx 😎

Who is your daddy?? this is very unusual for NYU where they refuse to tell your stats over the phone when you call them. "we put a letter in the mail yesterday" is all they say. Are you sure we are talking about the same school??

I noticed you got into UPenn with <3.0 GPA too. so you must have had real good rec's!

yes i'm talking about NYU. I received a call from my interviewer, not Amy Knowles at the office of admissions.... since my contact info is on AADSAS sheet I figure he just got my cellphone off of that.

yeah i got unbeatable recs and job experience, I wasn't drilled on my GPAs at all at my interviews.

Just saying, the school isn't all bad, there are those that had good experiences with them.

don't be hating on the school that much

did i ever use that word??? i was only pointing out the problems with the ADMISSIONS. What do YOU think of a school when you ask them "what is the size of the freshman class" and the ADEA book says ~230, but they flat out tell you "we can't tell you that information"?? And they should exercise consistency by either calling every accepted individual on their cell phone, or just say the famous “we can’t tell you anything over the phone, if your stats change you will hear from us in writing” to everyone.

I still think the curriculum (EDUCATION) is fine and comparable to many other great schools.

I wasn't referring to you specifically, but rather all the negativism surrounding the school. My apologies. I just want people to know that there are folks who've had good experiences with the school. I've edited the post.

👍

Thats hilarious...oh yeah when i interviewed there a third year who was having lunch with us kept on whispering to not come here. Overall I think NYU has a decent program ,great location. Three things I don't like about the school is the huge class size and how they want to package it as a good thing. How they kick out a ton of students after second year. don't try to refute this I've been in this town a heck of a long time and I have many friends alumni, first, second, third and fourth year who go there. Finally their extremely high tuition/ living expenses.

NYU is SOOO expensive. I won't apply anywhere that will cost me > $175,000 for the duration.

Not everyone has the amazing GPA that you have.

If you want to add another very good school that will not cost you an arm and a leg, apply to SUNY Buffalo 👍
