I have pretty much locked on to being a Pharmacist with a Nutrition major. But I would like to know the difference between a major and a minor for the sake of knowing it. Oviosly it makes scence that a major is what you study most at, but i want a better explanation.

The number of credit hours involved. At my univ, we had to have at least 30 hours for a major, but only 20 for a minor.

For sake of example: I had a double major with 40 hours of bio and 30 of education and a minor (20 hrs) of Spanish. I was 6 hours short of a humanities minor, too. Everything else was just general ed.

Keep in mind that different schools have different policies, but the general concept is the same.

talk to an advisor at your school. he/she will give you more specific info.

Sadly, I would have to say the difference is that majors matter whereas no one cares about your minor.

ditto

My school does not even offer minors.

Therefore when applying to medical school can do ANYTHING you want.
