I will bite:
Schooling- not a whole heck of a lot of differnce. DOs take classes in manipulation called OMM. The rest of the first 2 years is nearly identical. Third year is generally a bit different. The MD schools have a much more uniform approach with home hospitals, generally on their campus, that students do their rotations at. Some DO schools also do this but some send you to differnet areas or differnt states makiing you move around for each of the 7 core rotations. I dont know which schools do which. There is a forum for that.
Practice- many DOs opt for ACGME residencies (MD residencies). For them there is absolutely no differnce. In heavily populated DO areas there is also no differnce. In the South where DOs are not as highly regarded I would expect you would see a difference. Overall though you are not going to see much of a difference, if any at all. The pay, as many have said, is generally equivalent when matched by area and specialty. As the 2 degrees become increasingly more similar, expect any differences to disappear.
Admission- DO schools are generally more forgiving and "look at the whole applicant" as many on SDN like to say. In general, it is easier to get into a DO school than an MD school. That said, dont expect to waltz in with a 3.0 and a 25. DO stats are steadily increasing as the degree gains popularity. In terms of residency selection most on SDN say that the easier route is via MD. The data support this.
