I am a third yr. who recently became interested in PM&R and I was just wondering, exactly what is the difference between a regular PM&R residency and interventional PM&R.

There is no such thing as an "interventional PM&R" residency. You may be refering to interventional spine or pain management - which is a fellowship after a "regular" PM&R residency.
