Hello all,

Congrats to all who have been accepted thus far. For the rest of us, keep your chin up.

I was wondering if you guys new anything about UC Davis. Whats its reputation? How's the med school and hows the MD/PhD program. I know they are not MSTP, but is it still good? How does it compare with other UC schools. I havent been able to find much info on it. I would highly appreciate any thoughts.

This might not help you very much... unless you're interested in imaging and neuroscience...

I don't know much about the MD/PhD program there, but they have a pretty new imaging facility (MIND Institute) that's absolutely amazing. It's actually in the Sacramento area.. not really by the rest of campus. But I believe that the faculty and facilities are available for neuroscience PhD candidates (MD/PhDs should be included).

Their med school (I'm guessing) might be more clinical practice oriented as opposed to research... they don't show up on the school rankings for research oriented medical schools. I'm guessing that they'd be on the other ranking list, but I haven't checked.

Yes, UC Davis med school has a much higher emphasis on primary care. Their USNews ranking: med school (research)= #53, med school (primary care) = #17!!!
