Been through most of the discussions regarding Howard Dental School using the search function but the majority of the information is 4+ years old. Can any recent grads or currently enrolled students at Howard Dental School comment on the quality of the education at Howard? I realize any school will provide me with a DDS/DMD, but I'd rather substitute Howard for a different school to apply to if I won't be happy attending here. All the negativity I've been reading from past threads regarding lack of new equipment, not enough patients and not graduating on time has been keeping me from applying. Have most of these issues been resolved for the most part? It doesn't help that they don't respond to emails or phone calls.

I'm an URM with 24AA, 3.7GPA so I'm wondering if I should apply to Howard. Applied to 5 schools including Texas schools so far. I would apply to more but because of financial restrictions I can only afford about 6 well chosen schools keeping in my interview traveling costs.

So, to summarize the above, should I make Howard the final school I apply to or should I take a go at another school?
Would appreciate any responses!

Pick a better school. UCONN, PITT, Columbia, PENN, Harvard, UCSF

What is your state of residency and what schools (other than the 3 TX schools) have you applied to so far?

You are in prime position to get an excellent financial aid package at a lot of schools. I'm sure Howard is a good school but I would aim for a Columbia or a Penn or another school known to give some $$$. If you're from the south UAB is a good option. I also liked Ohio State.

Your stats are great so some schools specified above are great. Would rely to get into Texas if you're non resident. If you have 3/6 schools Tx schools that's an awful idea. As OoS it's no guarantee. Would definitely look into upenn pitt Columbia (maybe Harvard) mybae cali schools

I should have mentioned I'm a Texas resident. I'll definitely be giving those schools above a look.

Take advantage of the tuition and go to Texas. You will be paying like 1/3 to 1/4 as much at a Texas school than any other school in the country.

I understand and I fully intend on going to the Texas schools, however in the scenario that I do not make it at Texas, I'd like to apply to schools in which I wouldn't mind attending that are also as cheap as possible for a oos.

You're a URM and have a 24 AA - I think you'll make it into a Texas school unless you're completely missing something on your application.
