Can someone please tell me what GMT stands for when referring to time? It's been driving me crazy when the time for posts is in this strange system. Why did someone choose this confusing system for this new forum????

Thanks

I think it refers to Greenwich Mean Time, which is the time of the town in England that the prime meridian (0 degrees longitude) runs through.

You set your displayed time in terms of GMT (i.e. GMT - 5 is eastern time zone)

somebody correct me if i'm wrong

yes! The time is freaking crazy, i thought maybe others were setting the time to their preferred time zone. Does anyone know if we can do something like that or are we stuck with GMT?

Hey, if you guys go into your user CP (can't remember what that stands for--it's your profile info), select "edit settings". Down towards the bottom of the page, there's a place to select which time zone you want. It's good to have my time on there.

Hey, I think GMT is cool cos that's the time that my parents and family are on. So when I'm on SDN, I can look at the time and know when to call without doing the math.

I live my life by GMT. I also use military time.

Oh-nine hundred zulu. Roger that. Whatever.😛

Useless Fact of the Day:
CP stands for Control Panel. (there you go showeeeee)
