On almost everyone's MDApps, I see BU post-secondary rejections... even people with great applications

do they reject people that they think won't attend?

BU either gets the most applications of any school in the country or is very close to having the most, something like 10,000 I think. According to wikipedia that is for 114 regular MD spots, so almost 90 applicants for each seat. Chances are there will be more than one of those 90 with an impressive application, but all but one will ultimately get rejected. Just numbers~

that's why I hate MSAR.. they only give interview rates.. and BU's interview rate is 10% :S

10% is pretty surprising to me, that would mean 1,000 interviews which I kind of doubt. They self report those numbers to the MSAR, don't they? So maybe they are basing that off the number of people that complete the secondary, which would mean a pretty big drop off between primary and secondary (of maybe 1/2), which is also surprising to me.

Why so many applicants? Because of the location?

they give raw numbers not percentages

1038 offered interviews out of 10,032 applicants

those numbers seem correct. i think this year, dean witzburg told us at the interview that they got nearly 12,000 applications and were planning on interviewing close to 1,000. of those 1,000, ~300 will be offered an acceptance.

Check out UMich and a few others - with a ton of apps and good facilities, they get their choice. The only surprise, IMO, is that their average matriculant statistics aren't higher - suggesting that (as we've seen a million times) MDApps is a small piece of the pie and that maybe they have a low yield rate.

Mid tier schools like Tufts, GW, Georgetown, BU, etc. always get a ton of apps since every kind of applicant apply to them. They are also in desirable locations generally.

Isn't hard to get a Georgetown Secondary also? That seemed to be the trend on MDApps.

Isn't hard to get a Georgetown Secondary also? I feel like I have seen that on several MDApps also.

I didn't know they screened. I got it but didn't submit it, and my numbers are far from spectacular.

G-town doesn't screen for secondaries but it can be tough to get an interview from them.
