We just started gross anatomy, and I found out that we'll be working with cadavers (or portions of cadavers -- 😱 ) that have been pre-dissected for us. I was just wondering how other schools run their anatomy classes -- does anyone dissect, or use CD-ROM atlases, ... what else? Our instructor is on the faculty at NYU Medical School, so we're using his class materials (even though we don't get our own cadavers).

UAB OD students do full dissections. Spend like15 hours a week dissecting.....

Cutting the chest open, taking out the heart.....taking out the brain, removing the brain, cutting the head in half......Blah Blah Blah....dissecting the heart, taking out the intestines...get the picture?

It's about as detailed as a med school dissection🙄

And I don't think that's fair.....

You should enjoy it. We're darned near the only people on earth who get the privilege of seeing what the human body actually looks like. Sure, it's a little gross at first, but my opinion is that it's just flat-out COOL 😀
