What's your Dream School??

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
My dream school was NCSU because of their amazing DVM/PhD but didn't even try with my awful stats. That or somewhere in Europe would have been amazing.

Not that I can complain since I love the program at Wazzu. But who could say no to Europe if money was no object??

Ugh. Part of me still wants to drop out of Penn and go to Glasgow since I still technically have a spot. And I love being at Penn but I miss the UK so much.

As for my dream school, I really don't know. I don't have any major complains so far, but Tufts might possibly have been my dream school. I loved the school and everyone was so friendly. It would have possibly been perfect if it had been closer to Boston, but I wanted to be a in city and then they didn't want me, soo it didn't matter. CSU sounded great too. Kind of feel like I would have been happy at most schools though.

Haha Edinburgh is my dream school. I got in, but couldn't turn down in-state tuition. I was just stalking people on facebook that are first years there, and I'm so jealous!

 The youngest I could be starting vet school is 34. 😉

My oldest classmate is 46. And the average age is 25 I think. Doesn't matter at all. We all regress to the emotional status of 15-yr-olds when we go back to school anyways 🙂

😍 You should!!! Because it's amazingggg!

Cornell...I would LOVE to go to Cornell. Great program, and I'd choose it over penn for the rural area. I

hate cities and from what Ive heard, Cornell is BEAUTIFUL. That might be a silly reason for me to be

leaning towards Cornell but I'm always happiest where I can't count the trees on one hand. 🙂

My dream school would defiantly be Illinois!

When I was applying I had the idea that it would be cool to go somewhere else but then I realized that where I am now is the best fit for me.

Illinois is my IS school (and my undergrad school) and I feel that it has good experience opportunities. I'm part of the wildlife medical clinic there and it is amazing that they let us do all the treatments and create plans for the patients. Its great for gaining clinical skills and practicing the info they teach you in school.

I also think that their new curriculum with having you work in the clinics before 4th year is nice to gain experience and think about where you want to go with your career.

Plus I've made a lot of friends there recently, really great people to work with 🙂

Awwww. You're just a young pup!

I sometimes wonder what my life would be like right now, if I had found this forum back in highschool or college. It gives me much encouragement. 👍

I am so blessed to be able to say that I am attending my dream school 😍 I somehow got it in my head around the age of 7 or 8 that I wanted to go to Davis for vet school (I have the 4th grade "essays" to prove it), and UCD has lived up to - if not surpassed - nearly every expectation. There are only one or two things I can think of that I wish were different, compared to the innumerable things I love about Davis.

i'm kind of into the public/corporate track at vmr right now. but i'll go anywhere that will have me without hesitation.

I discovered this forum the summer before I entered college. Probably 1 or 2 weeks before, and it gave me so much hope! I also had a tough semester, and I have so much trouble finding time to gain experience hours but it really still gives me hope for those with less than par stats. 😳

Me too...

:highfive:

glad I'm not the only youngster 😛

👍 When are you applying? (You may have said it before but I'm too lazy to check. Finally done with school so I'm being as lazy as possible.)

I found SDN in my... Join date says senior year. But by that time I already applied to colleges and knew where I was going. Which means I knew that I wanted to go to vet school. Maybe I found it before and just didn't join yet. But I know that SDN is the reason I'm trying to go to vet school. It's what I've wanted for a long time, but I figured admission was as difficult as in Germany, so I wouldn't ever have a chance. Until I read about it here and I was like "Huh, I might actually make it in here if I try hard enough."

I really want to go to UPenn because it is only an hour and a half from my house (I am from Maryland). VMRCVM is 5 hours. I have a military SO who is stationed at the National Security Agency in Maryland and cannot move up to vet school with me until his Navy contract is up. If I went to UPenn, he could visit every weekend. However, it would be so much more EXPENSIVE!!!

You need to participate in the Military SO thread 😉

I think I have a new answer to this question....

Q: What is your dream school?

A: Bar tending school

I probably won't apply until the c/o 19 or 20 so I have oodles of time to figure out everything 🙂 you?

Yeah that's awesome! I've tried telling some of my pre-vettie friends about this site but no one will listen! Their loss 😛

I'm applying next year for c/o 18, but don't really have any hopes. It's more a practice run. I'm really hoping to get in for c/o 19, but I'd apply to c/o 20 too. But that'd probably be the last time.

Woohoo! Well good luck to you! Have any ideas where'd you like to go?

Either UGA or (if they give me EU tuition) Edinburgh. 😍

I would LOVE to go overseas but I don't know if I could ever reject Davis if they let me in 🙄

I bet I'd find several other schools I would love, but I'm not letting myself do research on them.

you didn't go when you were 19??

Some schools have what is called a Fast Track(or something similar, MN is FastVet). You can apply during Freshman/Sophomore year and be accepted to the state Vet school, but you still have to complete pre-reqs. In MN it requires 1 less year of school. 3 years of Undergrad, instead of 4. You get your Bachelors degree after the 1st year of Vet school.

I would also LOVE to go to Australia for school, but there is no way I could afford it.

I got rejected from ours. 🙁

I'm surprised I was completely unaware of this.

Interviews and Acceptances are starting to come out more often!! Anyone feel like sharing dream schools?

So excited for everyone, best of :luck: 😍 !!!

UPenn is my dream school. I applied to their combined VMD/Ph.D program, and can't think of a better place to be. I'm from the D.C. area, so it's easy to get home, their New Bolton Center/Laminitis Institute would be an absolute dream (I did some laminitis-related research as a undergrad and have been a horse person my whole life), and they offer incredible financial support for their dual program students.

I know as an out-of-state applicant it's a long shot, but I had to try anyway! Still waiting to hear...no interview yet, but no rejection, either...
