After reading a couple of threads that said people with high I.Q.'s generally have it easier as a physician and an easier time getting there. So, inspiried by all of this, I took a quick I.Q. test on a site to help determine my I.Q. I do not really know if this is accurate, but I thought it was pretty cool. I'm just doing this out of curiosity.

I took it on iqtest.com. If you take the test or already know what your IQ test is, what is it?

Hmm I'm not sure knowing how smart other people are helps you...

I doubt the online tests have a super high correlation with professionally administered IQ tests, but since I've never had the latter done, voted based on the former.

Your "less than" and "greater than" signs in the poll are backwards lol

Well, I think we all know what the OP's IQ is.

Did they change genius level or something? I thought it was 180+?

Yea I thought it was 180+ as well. I guess they just changed the IQ scale after George Bush to save the impression that a US president was mentally ******ed. Im not even voting, my IQ is too high to be quantified by any mortal means 😎

Ummm >100, 4 options between 100 and 140, and <140? No matter what you vote, there would be 2 other equally valid options.

My IQ is indeed under 140, so I'll just vote for that.

Err, 180 would be 1/20,000,000 so there would be around 15 geniuses in the US on average. That's a very strict criteria.

I did that IQ test a while back, got 140+. Although, the IQ test on that site is terrible. From what I've seen, all of them are, actually. I don't believe they measure true intelligence.

OVER 9000!!!!!!!!!

jk, when I had mine done a few years ago it was 131.
and No, it was not a link from FB or online, a real one.

thats fairly good. how did u get ur hands on the real one?

Actually before I transfered to my current university, I took some Psyc. courses at a C.C. My Professor at the time was working on his Doctorates in Psychology. He was looking for volunteers, so I agreed. It took about 4 hrs, it felt like taking the MCAT without the Stress, fear, ect..

Btw I did the IQ test mentioned in the OP after several drinks at dinner and got a 148, so obviously it doesn't mean much.

Haha last time I make a poll right. I got a 127 on that iqtest.com thing, but I don't know whether to take that seriously because, come on, that is 13 points away from qualifying to being a genius.

I've had mine measured a few times under standardized conditions for various things.... Mine isn't listed up there, so either it's above 140 or below 100....

If you're graduating college, you are probably above 115. 127 is nearly 1 SD above the mean for a college grad, so you'd be around the 80th percentile of college grads

From my Personal Experience,

There is no Correlation between IQ score and ability to remember Reagents for Nucleophilic Substitution and Elimination

Nope, alas just a lowly freshman 🙁.

1) Online IQ tests are not at all reliable for a number of reasons.
2) Every IQ test is different (a 160 on one test may be a 100 on another test)
3) Only standardized IQ tests should be trusted.
4) (As the poster above said) There is no correlation between IQ scores and the ability to study (to a degree)

I'm pretty sure that if you got a 180 on the WAIS IV (the official legit test) that would be a perfect score. This is unheard of. Genius level is 140+. Also, there is no internet IQ test that has undergone validity or reliability testing to the point that it could be considered psychometrically sound. In other words, that IQ score is worth about as much as Dr. Phil's personality test... ie. it's not worth much. If you're interested in finding out your real IQ, you would need to pay a clinical psychologist over 300 bones to administer to you either the WAIS-IV or the Stanford-Benet. Sorry guys, but that score really means nothing 🙄

edit: This is directed to the entire thread, not the quoted poster 😀

Mine isn't listed, so I voted for the one that was closest. I took a real one when I was a kid. When I was older, I used it to get into Mensa.

By the way, for those of you who don't know yours and want to, Mensa offers testing. In my state, it's once a month.

Fixed it for you. 😉

Maybe on that test, but I always assumed the Stanford-Binet was more common, and I've also always assumed around 170+ on it was genius level. I took it under legit conditions as part of a clinical trial I participated in when I was younger, and I scored over 140.

I correct myself: Genius level is three standard deviations above the average, which would be a 145. The Stanford-Binet was the most common, but i'm pretty sure the Wechsler tests have been more common and more trusted for at least the past two decades. However, they correlate at a rediculous coefficient, like .95, so which one you take isn't really much of an issue.

"Genius" is an arbitrary value....

That being said, by the Binet scale, we have:

115-124 - Above average
125-134 - Gifted
135-144 - Very gifted
145-164 - Genius
165-179 - High genius
180-200 - Highest genius

at distributions of

50% of IQ scores fall between 90 and 110
70% of IQ scores fall between 85 and 115
95% of IQ scores fall between 70 and 130
99.5% of IQ scores fall between 60 and 140

It's like posting your penis size. You can post your fantasy instead of reality.

On average, subtract 30 points.

Mine's longer than all of yours!

Um, I mean higher.

I only have done those online ones and always ended up in the "Above average" range. However, I think the IQ testing, especially when done outside the "test the degree of mental ******ation" purpose is somewhat unreliable, because a lot of the questions are fact based stuff. Which means you would have to had learned those sort of things at some point in your life, most likely in school.

So, someone who never went to school would most likely get a much lower IQ score than someone that did go and really took their education serious.

Hey guys, it's EQ that really matters ; )

What Sandler movie is that line from...
"My mom says real beauty's on the inside."
"That's just something ugly people say."

Yup, according to the poll most people here are geniuses alright 🙄

Yeah I understand its an arbitrary designation, and I think I've seen those ranges before...I never liked the idea of "high genius" and "highest genius" though...I mean seriously, what? I feel like the connotation of "genius" that is normally associated with it is like the utmost level of intelligence, and that that scale is subdividing the range too much.

Look, compared to Thomas Jefferson, Mark Twain, and Reggie Bush, we are all pretty average.

I doubt the online tests have a super high correlation with professionally administered IQ tests, but since I've never had the latter done, voted based on the former.

I've had my IQ tested both professionally and through an online test, and the results were EXACTLY the same.

I found it strange, but interesting FWIW.

In reality there are many types of "intelligence" (see the research of people like Howard Gardner, et. al. if you have time and/or care). This is a touchy topic tainted by culture and educational bias. I've known many people who have sky-high IQ's who are complete *****s when it comes to common sense.

I would rather have wisdom than intelligence.

You can only find out your IQ if you did it professionally, going on websites are very inaccurate.

I doubt everyone that answers actually hired someone to get there IQ
