Don't you have to pay to be a member of Mensa? If so, the IQ test isn't the entrance exam 😛.

Heh, yes. The money goes to fund things like scholarships and such. I grade essays for them to help determine which high school seniors get the scholarships. However, you are not offered membership unless you have a certain score on the test.

It's an odd group of folks, but they are generally very nice (at least in my chapter).

I had to get above 130... upper 2.5% or something...

From what I remember, IQ>130 is maybe 5%, although I suppose I'm splitting hairs...

"Come on, what am I gonna do? Just all of a sudden jump up and grind my feet on somebody's couch like it's something to do? Come on. I got a little more sense than that.
...
...
Yeah, I remember grindin' my feet on Eddie's couch." 😀

haha! 33% of us are geniuses!

"Welcome to SDN, where all the women are hot, all the men bench 200, and everyone's IQ is far above average."

God bless this website.

200 pounds isn't very heavy for someone who didn't just start working out. Just sayin'

I received a score of 120😳

Yeah. A fail on that joke. A number of 500 or more would have gotten the point across. Heck, how 'bout some hyperbole on all 3 parts of that statement??? smh...

holy ****. I just noticed that the percents from the poll are pretty much equivalent to the percents in the graph. LMAO.:laugh::laugh:

holy crap, 16% are off the charts!!!

Just representing people who like to go to the gym. We can't have people thinking 200 pounds is hard.😀

IQ tests online are veryyy inaccurate. I had mine professionally done as a child, and then I took one online a few years later. My online test was 15 points lower (one standard deviation) than my professional test. I took the same online test again, and got 10 points lower than the first time.

Also, there's a problem with this poll: not all IQ tests use the same scale. The Weschler III (childrens) test has a high of 160, whereas some other IQ tests do not have a highest scaled score. It would be better to compare percentage scaled points (eg top 1%, top 0.5%, etc)

The only thing I had professionally done as a child were christmas card photos, and even those were at Wal-Mart. 👍

LOL ridiculous poll. I doubt even 10% of the folks here have an IQ over 120. So much for self-reported stuff on the internet.

lol i am <3 this thread.

i took this random test once and got like 149, that was weird tho lol. i know i am not that smart if 130 is like top 5% already.

oh oh and more importantly, i like pie.

lulz @ this thread. That test gave me an IQ of 139. I've taken a few other online ones in the past an they've all been ~140, but I'm aware that they're not actually real IQ tests (whatever that means).

Nevertheless, it's still fun.

If anyone would like to stroke their ego with one more test, I found my old assessment of various IQ tests report. The online ones that were used were www.intelligencetest.com (this one has validity and reliability data, takes 15 minutes) and the other one was over at www.psychologytoday.com/tests/iq. I think it was the logical one but on my paper its called the classical iq test.

I've gone to intelligencetest.com and taken it twice to do my own little frankenstein experiment (cue creepy "bwahahahah"). Once, I took my time and did as well as I could. The other, I deliberately put wrong answers (and yes they were different answers than the ones when I was trying! lol). It could be a mistake, but it gave me the same score both times. Just sayin'.

>140. I'm a genius. 😀. I don't need a test to tell me that, my parents have been telling me that since I was 2.

Congrats on your mom telling you that!

Did she also tell you you're the hottest/most charming/most beautiful thing alive?

After reading a couple of threads that said people with high I.Q.'s generally have it easier as a physician and an easier time getting there. So, inspiried by all of this, I took a quick I.Q. test on a site to help determine my I.Q. I do not really know if this is accurate, but I thought it was pretty cool. I'm just doing this out of curiosity.

I took it on iqtest.com. If you take the test or already know what your IQ test is, what is it?

An online IQ exam always increases your IQ score, and is not accurate. My ex-GF filled out one of these online IQ exams, and she said, as if she were accepting an award at the Grammy's, "My IQ is 147." Then she proceeded to download her free Lady Gaga ringtone for her participation in this "IQ test."

By the way, I took a $1600 IQ exam over the summer from a PhD pscyhologist. My WAIS IQ exam gave me a 133. I was happy about that, but I swear that I could have done much better.

I feel like the subjects of that IQ test would give unfair results. You'd have to be pretty stupid to pay 1600 bucks for an IQ test...

I believe that you're the height of all that is stupid (and passive aggressive). You're going to make a terrible employee one day. You have no chance of effective communications, since you try to extrapolate so much from 1 sentence.

Uh oh, bad news for me.

Isoprop,

Don't believe for one second that this is bad news for you, my friend. When I took my IQ exam, I thought that it was a silly exam.

It's your ATTITUDE, and not your APTITUDE, which determines your ALTITUDE.

Cliches aside, I personally think your IQ is less important than your interest/curiosity and work ethic.

Good thing that he was banned. He was quite rude to refer to me as a "stupid."

You paid $1600 for an IQ exam? Are you sure it was 133?:laugh::laugh:

OMG, I get to stroke my e-peen with this 15 minute IQ test that I'm sure correlates with a 2 hour IQ tests in a psychologist's office 😛.

Although I took that EQ test on psychology today an got a 108. So my EQ (a bigger measure of success than iq) is about average.

I've never had a formal test, but I did take the SAT and ACT as a 7th grader to hang out with my older brothers and their classmates (90th+ percentiles for the subsections). What I learned during my psychology courses was that different tests have different ceilings (such as the SB-LM, which is an older test, having a very high ceiling--over 200-- and the new SB-V having a ceiling around 150-160). I'm not sure what an adult would do with this knowledge (mostly useful for proper placement in school early on), although knowing what my score actually meant has helped me when I have faced difficulties in school (background with no preparation for college, computers...) that cause me to reconsider whether or not I can achieve what I want to achieve. If anyone wants to seriously explore the issue, Hoagie's Gifted Website has some good information on testing...

No, they didn't, but that was the only time that I was allowed to tag along with them 🙂 I was always trying to sneak into their classes or do their homework or go to their parties (loved their discussions of politics and of literature!)... but, alas, I was always too young for that. Plus, I enjoyed playing with the SAT and ACT as a child. It was like figuring out the pieces to a puzzle or solving a difficult question... that and I liked going to McDonald's afterwards with them and my dad 🙂

You did all of this as a 7th grader? Hell in 7th grade, I was just figuring out what my dick was for, never mind trying to go to parties with high school juniors and seniors

Haha awta. My 7th grade was spent alternating between bragging to my friends about my exploits with girls while in reality being too chicken**** to actually look one in the face.

Good times.

This thread is now about your combined Bench Press, Squat, Deadlift 1RMs.

1005 lbs, yeah baby.

Actually, most of the kids who wouldn't make fun of me were several years older than I, and they tried to shield me from some of the more mature themes associated with an older demographic (though the sociologist in me didn't mind observing some of their habits at "real" parties... Lol...).

I have an insatiable drive to learn and discover, and I spent a good amount of time (usually summer and breaks) on college campuses and research institutes as a child--loved the research, the guest lectures, and discussing current developments in the sciences and humanities with professors and students... I was accepted to a greater extent by educators and other students there, rather than in my usual grade-based classrooms (and it was much more stimulating than learning a bit of algebra or trying to get away with reading some physics journals or genetics books during my usual classes... Lol). Ironically, my experiences with drugs and alcohol started as an attempt to black out my aforementioned experiences with age-mates until I could escape to college...

As for the homework, I ended up carving my first career in teaching, starting at a very young age and have continued this throughout my schooling experiences, as well as educational advocacy 🙂

If any of this sounds accurate to a high schooler wandering in, feel free to pm me about educational options/opportunities 🙂
