FOr those who've have interviews, can u write down what months each school was interviewing? I'm wondering what month would be good to take off..i.e. december vs. january.

i've heard good things about cedars sanai. would a non-university hospital mess up ur chances of doing fellowships such as cards, gi, etc?

I think you would be fine doing either month, all of my cali programs interview heavily throughout both (although some did not during november). December might be better weather-wise if you're flying out of a cold weather state (where you might get stuck with icy runways, blizzards, etc.). Otherwise I really think either would be fine.

Mid-west/South schools have dates as early as November, East and West Coast Schools tend to have dates starting in late Nov, December and January. I am taking off December and January although if I had to choose I would take January off since the cost of flying in Dec. is expensive and you lose that last week for the holidays in Dec.

You should look it up on FREIDA - it's really helpful. It also tells you how many applicants they interview. But I definitely agree with PaleAle that December might be better, although bad weather can happen in December as well.

With regards to whether a non-university-based hospital will affect your chances of doing fellowship: I think it depends on which hospital and who you train with there. When you interview you should ask how many of the applicants go on to fellowship and what kind of fellowships as some programs might have great placement in, for example, GI or cards. You might also find the information on the their websites as well.

Ahh, but it's so nice to be almost done now rather than just starting. . .
