when are interviews considered late?

I know it is still very early in the game but I wanted to know when interviews are considered late. I have had 2 already and have some more now through the end of October. My interview with my top choice is October 11th...I'm pretty sure that's early enough but it makes me nervous that so many people will have had interviews before me. Any thoughts?

That's in the first round of interviews. Probably < 100 people have had interviews before you unless you're talking about a school that granted auto-interviews, which means you're likely in the first 10% of people interviewed. I wouldn't worry at all.

and how long have these schools been interviewing. some schools don't start til october or later. some of them have been going since august. i think that makes a big difference in deciding if your interview is "early" or "late"

Doesn't it make a big difference, even if you're a great applicant, if your interviews are as late as November/December/Jan?

It might make a difference but there's nothing you can do about it anyways.

When my brother applied he submitted AMCAS near the end of the summer and had his first interviews in November. He ended up getting 15 interviews and 12 eventual acceptances including JHU, HMS, etc (3.8/35) The timing may be more important for applicants that aren't quite as strong, but ultimately, your application, including the timing, is what it is, so you have to take your cards as they fall.

It really does depend on the school. Those with rolling admissions earlier is ALWAYS better. Those who don't have rolling admissions, earlier is still ALWAYS better.

I think the real point you have to see is if you have been skipped. Unfortunately, you need a lot of info about other applicants to know where you stand (something you'd only find in the Texas thread for Texas schools because we're cool like that!)

Enough ranting. Be worried mid-October, but start calling schools now to see where you stand. No one is going to give you your acceptance, you must work tooth and nail for it!
