When are LORs too old to be used?

I have a committee letter but its about 3-4 years old now. Will the age of it be disadvantage? I can easily sub it out with newer letters.

Get new letters. It too me 3 cycles before I got into dental school and I got new letters of LOR or had my previous recommenders update with new information I provided in my resume/CV.

What does your committee want you to do? Many will not give any substantive updates/help after 2 years.
