Hey i'm new here -

Anyway, I just wanted to know if people knew when the earliest interviews were offered for dental schools. I applied to:

Boston U
Case Western
Columbia
University of Michigan
University of Detroit Mercy
UCLA
UCSF
USC
Marquette
New York University
Tufts

Whew! Anyway, the reason is that I'm studying abroad to Japan next year (not through my college, which is University of Michigan - It's just some language academy there) and i can only leave the country once due to strange student visa regulations for 1, maybe 2, weeks. I leave for Japan October 5. That being said, i'm hoping i can snag some interviews before i go, and put the other interviews within the same frame of time while i'm over there. What do you guys think?

Oh and i'd love to hear feedback on my chances to get into dental school, since my gpa is crappy.

3.26 overall GPA
A little over 3.0? science GPA
23/20/23 AA/TS/PAT

and I dunno if this helps, but i had lots of stuff for every part of the application (extracurricular, research, dentistry experience, etc), I submitted it early (yesterday), I graduated in 3 years with a major in bio and minor in economics and 140 credits, and i'm studying abroad to 2 different countries.

dunno much about earliest interview date, but i say you have a good shot at columbia. you have good DAT scores and you went to a "prestigious" university.....those are two things it seems columbia looks fondly upon.

I only know about Tufts from your list, and they have a whole crapload of assigned dates for interviews. You call them during certain hours, they tell you which are open, and you can choose. So that's good since you can plan way ahead. I submitted my app in early Jule and I was invited to interview....hmm...early to mid-September, I believe?

But you do sound quite competitive! I'm sure you'll have no problem snagging the interviews....and you have an excellent excuse for having some time constraints. 😉

Whoa, 30 on DATs? I dunno if that's a joke or whatever, but i coulda sworn i completely aced that test and i only got a 23..

is it me or are half of your posts answering comments about your signature?

Ah One more thing.. What do you guys think of those schools i applied to? (They were actually pretty much randomly chosen).. Columbia and UMich are my top choices at the moment, based purely on the fact that i know what they look like..

Just don't tell them that!! 😱

Case Western held their interviews starting in late July, early August for this past cycle I believe.

Apply to UMDNJ. I got my first interview letter from them or UCONN i cant remember. They both offered me a date in the third week of september. The 23rd to be specific.

The UMICH interview definetly kicks ass...maybe im biased already cuz im goin there.

After some hours of twiddling around the forums, i narrowed down my top choices (well, until i actually see those schools, which i will). These are: UCLA, Umich, Tufts, and Columbia. Anyone know the early interview dates for those 4 schools?

I'm also of thinking of applying to Penn since it looks like a great place to be.. think i've got a shot with my lousy gpa?

Edit: Can't figure out where that stupid supplemental application is that i need to send in for penn.. anyone have the specific link? I already emailed them a few days ago..

I called Penn on monday and they said they are still working on the supplemental questions and will be posted in next ten days, if this is exact, the supp applications should be on May 30 or June 1.

I'm bumping this thread up in hopes of more replies, but also because lately there seems to be a lot of talk about the competition this year.. and while i was originally pretty confident about having no problems getting into dental school, snagging early interviews, etc.. now i'm pretty scared. Thinking of applying to a few more schools to be safe (Even though some of these schools are probably out of reach - UOP, Buffalo, Maryland, UPenn)
