I read a posting where people were already talking about e-submitting their applications, and I was surprised that people are submitting their PharmCAS already! 😱 That really scares me because I wasn't planning on submitting mines until September, so I wanted to ask when everyone is planning on submitting theirs or when we should!

Some schools aren't on a rolling basis while others are, so it's tough to choose because you want to work on it as long as possible, yet you want to submit it as early as possible for rolling schools. What are you guys doing?! Thanks 😀

I didn't send mine in until early Nov. last year, and I was accepted to both places I applied. However, I do think in general it might be good to do it a bit earlier - I just wanted to finish studying for the PCAT first.

My goal is by July 31st.

If your school has rolling admissions... then it is to your advantage to get your app in early. At the very beginning of admissions - you are competing for the total amount of seats for a class. As time goes by, there are less and less seats available. So the longer you wait, the more competitive the applicants are. To answer your question, the sooner the better - although there is not much difference between July 31st and mid august (most ED deadlines occur around 1st of September)

I'm not applying Early Decision, and the deadline that the majority of the schools I'm applying to have is Nov. 1st (some a little later). Only one of the school's I'm applying to is rolling, so I guess the best thing is to just submit the PharmCAS asap, and then do the supplementals in the order of their deadlines (with priority to the rolling school). What do you think? And thanks for the replies, everyone 😀

unless you are taking summer school and are trying to raise up your GPA or are waiting for better LORs to come around (currently in an internship/job/class), then I don't see the con of finishing your application ASAP.. besides the fact you have to give up procrastinating 🙂

How easy it is to procrastinate!!! I finally have everything into Pharmcas except my LOR's and my PS. PS is getting done this weekend - hell or high water!!! I think I might start a SDN-Pharm wide rally to getyour PS done this weekend...

any way.... for those who are surprised people are applying early : You have to keep in mind some of us are applying to Cali schools. All Cali schools except I THINK Loma Linda & Turo , have a NOV 1ST deadline

I have been working on my ps for 3 months as well! I can't believe how hard it has been. I type something on the computer and then immediately erase it. I am afraid of sounding too corny. Good luck and we can get through this!

I have a question, i was just wondering if the supplement applications from other schools have a different deadline or is it all NOV 1st. I mean for like rolling admission, is it that you have to complete your supplement application and pharmcas application in order for the schools to look at you or just the pharmcas?

FYI, I went to a UCSF information session, and they said that they're not on a rolling basis. In fact, he suggested that you submit your PharmCAS and supplemental as late as possible (well, not on Nov. 1st, but maybe mid October) so that you give yourself as much time as possible and to make sure everything is okay. They don't start looking at apps until after the deadline. Plus, I have a friend who's going to UCSF and she mailed her supplemental on Nov 1st last year! So if your school isn't rolling, then don't stress on getting it in so soon. In fact, what schools that you know of are and aren't rolling? I only know USC and UOP are rolling.

So I think my plan is to just get the PharmCAS in, and then submit my supplementals in order of deadline with rolling admission schools first!

Good luck to everyone, I'm going to have to join the work on your PS thread too 😀

the problem is, you can only submit pharmcas once.. so if you want to take advantage of the California schools with rolling admissions (USC, UOP, etc) you have to submit your pharmcas early. For me its pros and cons.. I could wait until Nov 1st to raise my GPA a bit over summer, improve my app overall, or apply early and take advantage of the rolling admissions of the some of the schools. Because I don't think I have a shot at UCSF anyway.. suffice to say I'm turning in my app come August 1st 🙂
