When can I write prescriptions?

In a month I'm starting intern year. I know I'll be able to write orders from day 1, but what about prescriptions? Do I have to wait until I'm licensed for that?

You probably will still be able to write prescriptions under your residency program's umbrella license (depending on the state's particular laws). Or, your program may give you your own training license number.
