When did Maryland start sending out interview invites last year?

i assume that they will be extending their first invites soon.... all students have already started school.. us D1s are starting our 5th week of class.

When I e-mailed them last week they said my app was under review. I'm assuming sometime this week or next week is when the first batch of invites will go out.

Hi guys,

I just took the DAT and got 17/17/20 so I'm going to retake in December. I tried calling UMD and they wouldn't let me talk to anyone except the secretary and I think that is bullsh**. But anyway, those score do meet the minimum for instate and I have a pretty good sGPA--3.5 from a good school and all that and I graduated and i'm going to be working at an office. Is there a chance that I could get an invite for an interview before my next DAT score? Or if I notify them that I am retaking, will they not even look at my application?

i honestly don;t think 17/17/20 will cut it for the first round of interviews. there are others with 21/21/21 that probably have all the same extracurriculars as you. concentrate on the 2nd DAT and you may see some better news not just from maryland, but also from other schools. goodluck!

if you notify them or aadsas that you will be retaking...they won't look at your app but wait for your new scores....

I don't think you will be receiving an interview with those stats... your GPA is at our class's average, but your DAT is far below...

retake the DAT and shoot for 20+.... c/o 2011 had an average GPA of 3.5 and DAT of 20.

I really think it depends on what kind of extras you have. I had a lesser GPA with slightly higher DAT's and am in the same class as jb! (my stats in every which way is less than the class average). If you're fresh out of undergrad with the standard research position and/or volunteer job, you might have a little more difficult time in getting an interview. Good luck to you!

don't listen to domonas.... he's mad smart and is very humble about it. 😛

bottom line, unless your application is very unique, a 17 AA won't get you an interview at Maryland or really any school for that matter. if you let schools know you're re-taking and you manhandle it, then you should get an interview. maryland interviews into march/april.

Yep I'm from Maryland. I graduated from a school that will surely dominate Maryland on Oct. 27th or so 🙂 I am going to get a job doing something at a lab or office asap. Maybe do a mission trip or something this year. Hmm maybe I should look into somekind of job/research at the university?

Anyway, I made a huge mistake by not taking the DAT earlier this summer, so now I am stuck with my miserable 17 until December. I even called the admissions office but the secretary said that I am not allowed to speak to anyone but her. I mean, What? Sounds kinda ridiculous, but anyways maybe I can try to get an appointment with the dean. I'm going to retake in December and kill it. So basically all I want them to do is tell me I still have a shot. But they don't wannnna talk to meeee.
