Step I when did u start doing random qbank q's?

So I have 2 months to prep for step i. is it better to start random qbank q's now, or review for a month, and then start qbank? i basically don't remember much from the courses. my current level of knowlege in path, for example, is getting around 50% of the brs path mcq's right after about 2 hrs reviewing the chapter.

So, I used QBank at random right from the beginning. I did read BRS Path and Phys before starting to do questions, just because those 2 are big on the USMLE.

My rationale to do them always at random is that if you do questions by subject and then 6 weeks pass, how will you know that you remember whatever you study in your first week?

It worked for me and you will see improvement as you will learn from the questions and themes will come up again and again during your study.

there are probl many different ways to do this, but here's a suggestion:

I think the path and physio are huge parts of most questions. I believe that if you havent had a decent grip on these two subjects, then doing random questions (especially at the beginning) is worthless. note that even the poster above did random questions only after reading brs path and physio.

my suggestion would be to study organ systems and as you go along, to add sections that have you completed... that way, if you notice that you are starting to forget anything in cardio (for example), then you know that you could hunker down on that. make sense, just my $0.02.

I think that is a really good way to do it. You need questions to reinforce what you have just learned (by doing Qbook) and you need to keep revisiting the stuff you have studied previously (by doing Qbank).

I did this too. I would do qbank in the mornings timed & random. At night i would do qbook and appleton & lange by subject after having reviewed that subject.

Since i'm reviewing 2 organ systems a day (i.e. path + physio of heart and lung), I'll do 20-30 specific Qbank questions after each. At the end of the day, I do random 50 of all previous systems i've covered. Once everything gets reviewed, then random 50's will start. What do you guys think?

i'm doing it similar to you. i'll do "random" at night of all the systems i've reviewed. it was too much of an ego killer to do random before i had looked at stuff...especially 1st year stuff.

On another note, make sure that you guys practice random Q blocks early AM during your last week of Study. It is nice to have your Diet Coke/Coffe at 7pm while doing questions but at the very end you are required to answer questions at 8:30am with nothing to sip thru to keep you alert.
