OK, so I am only on interview #5, but I really hit the wall today. What I used to believe were great answers have turned into dull, repetitive blurbs. Hopefully I can turn it around, but it is not looking good. My answer now for "What questions do you have?" is Duh?!?!

I always ask the same ones now....keep it simple. They barely have enough time to read our files, they get asked the same questions repeatedly....so I don't think the questions you'll ask are going to make or break the interview.

I just did #7, and the night before, I just really, really, really didn't want to go through with it. I wanted to go home, sleep in my own bed, and actually see my husband and dogs.

Only 2 to go... both next week, both in the same geographical area. Only 2 to go... only 2 to go...

For me #8 was the longest interview EVER! Then #9 and #10 were damn near unbearable. I cancelled #11. That said the ninth program ended up #3 on my ROL. I ended up at my first choice, which was interview #4 or 5, I don't remember, but I do remember that my wife forced me to take an interview here. I didn't think I would like it.

I am freaking burnt out already, and I am only on #6!

I just finished #7.... I'm running out of gas, but I haven't found any programs that knock me off my feet yet. Each one I go to I can find many pluses and many minuses (particularly in the 4 year programs.... Damn that's a long time)

You guys are wusses.
I did 19 interviews........

Couples match and EM/IM with IM back up = bad combination

I was tired and burnt by the end but I was able to visit cities and places I would never have gone without the interview attached. Overall a good time.
Would I do it again. Haven't decided yet. Will have to decide next year when fellowships come in line.

Good luck to all.

I did number 7 today and as I was driving to it last night I almost decided not to go. I'm just exhausted. I have another 9 scheduled but I'm planning on cancelling at least 3.

I feel for you guys. Interviews are gruelling. Remember the "safe"number to put on your match list is 8-10 programs you would want to go to, you only need to interview at enough programs to get that number unless you have a 'black mark' on your app is the general concensus. Try to relax. Remeber you are interviewing the programs as much as they are interviewing you. We the residents want you to like us as much as the other way around. I scheduled some "vacation time" in between interviews, took 5 days out in OR with my husband to recharge - I strongly recommend this. Try to have some fun - go out with the residents and get to know us, you will be spending a lot of time with us over the next few years. Also, one thoughtful question specific to the program is far better than a bunch of canned questions - everyone remembers quality over quantity in all things in life🙂 Keep your chins up - you're almost done.

Just finished #6; painful, painful, painful. I was visiting an always-praised program and I couldn't muster the least bit interest. How sad is that?

I have one more before Christmas break, and then a bunch sched'd for Jan. I sense some cancellations in my future...

Ok, that's enough whine, but I guess there's some solace in knowing that other folks are feeling the same way. Maybe I can stop feeling bad about my apathy...

Take care all.

I thought I was tired of EM interviews after doing 7, but let me tell you, I was miserable today. I just had my 1st interview for a prelim medicine position and I almost fell asleep during the morning report. WOW... Thank god I'm not doing medicine! And to think I actually considered EM/IM.

Also... It was really funny to see the personality differences between the people interviewing for both types of programs. Everyone was very nervous and up-tight.

I made it through #10 before mentally crashing during the after-interview lunch. #11 today was really hard. I really liked both programs, so I'm kind of bummed. Thank goodness I only have one more before winter break.
