When do you guys take DAT generally?
Before the senior year starts?
Then, do you guys study DAT while going to school(college in junior year)

Summer sophomore or summer junior (assuming you have everything ready to apply except for the DAT)., unless you are ok with a gap year.

I think it's best to take it on the day you signed up for. Lol

But seriously summer of sophomore or junior year is best .

I would take it as soon as you finished bio, gen chem and orgo, while the material is still fresh in your head. Otherwise, summer before senior year.

If you have finished genbio 1 and 2, gen chem 1 and 2, and Organic 1 and 2 by the end of your sophomore year you should take it then.

This is your best option because you have the whole summer to study for it without being stressed about having to apply, the material is relatively newer to you than it would be after your junior year, and if you mess up you still have a whole year to retake it.

If you wait til your junior year summer you will not be an early applicant and if you mess up you will most likely have to wait another year to reapply

I would recommend for you to take it the summer after you have finished organic chemistry. This is likely the hardest subject to remember when you are not consistently using it. You likely wont have all the biology knowledge you will need at this point, but a little studying can take care of that.
