So, I am a reapplicant, but I am applying early this time! I need to know when interivews start - approximately. Mainly, before or after August?

When I was on the phone yesterday with one of the schools I thought they said that their interviews wouldn't begin until November. I need to know because I have an offer at a foreign school that I cannot defer for a year, and the school starts in early September!

So, if they don't start until November, I will probably just go to the foreign school so that I don't risk applying to DO schools and not being accepted, and having to take a second year off and possibly never getting in... Which means, I would rather not spend all the money on applications if I am going to be in med. school already by the time interviews start! So frustrating!

After. Classes don't usually begin until the end of July or early August. People are still being pulled off of the waitlist in August in a lot of cases. Early acceptance interviews may begin in September and October, but not all schools do that. Most begin much later.

are u going to the carribean??? Ross, SGU?? which one? i am just curious.

and to answer you, most will start interviews around mid october

Don't go carib.

Flame away, it's no matter to me.

Best of luck 🙂

No reason for a flame; you stated your opinion. I would tend to agree with you, but I really don't have that much experience with carribean grads. I only know one personally. He had one heck of a time finding a residency, but he makes a pretty good living now as an FP. Of course, he spends most of his time giving botox injections in a resort community and the rest playing golf, so I wouldn't exactly say he's practicing medicine-- but he could if he wanted to 🙂.

Historically, NOVA offers the earliest interviews of the season, starting in September. Most other will start in October with a handful starting in November. Check my MDapps profile for my interview schedule. I submitted my application the first week I could, so my profile should represent what a very early applicant can reasonably expect.

Texas starts interviewing in July.

Thanks everyone! It's actually a school in Poland that is associated with UPenn med school and has students getting good US residencies. Actually, my neighbor is a doctor and knows someone who came from there and just finished residency at UCSF. I've done lots of research on the school, and I'm confident I would do just as well there as in a DO school.

Of course, I would rather stay in this country, but I am nervous after being on 3 waitlists that the same thing will happen the next time around and I will miss out on a decent opportunity! I haven't made up my mind yet, I have a few days before I need to get my US apps. in.

I would love to get into the Texas school, I grew up there and would love to go back, but it's so hard from out of state! They only take something like 10% from out of state. Thanks for letting me know that they interview earlier!

Gotta do what you gotta do.

Best of luck.
