**When do schools actually INTERVIEW you?**

1. When do schools interview you? Is it for people that are borderline of getting into the school?

2. Do they interview everyone? (in regards to someone who did great on the DAT with a 4.0 GPA i.e. the perfect candidate)

1st. Go to the websites of the schools your interested in and check out the application process.

2nd. 99.87% if the time, they interview.

They interview you if they feel you may be a good canidate for their school. The interview gives them a better feeling about you... and if they really like you, you are in.


WHEN you interview depends on when your file was completed at the school, provided that they are even interested in interviewing you in the first place.

I had 2 interviews in August.

Other people didn't start to interview until Sept, Oct, Nov. Dec, Jan... it just depends on how everythign falls into place.

The interview is so because the 4.0 and perfect DAT don't necessarily make a perfect candidate...personality is a big factor, along with shadowing experience in the dental field, research, and the personal statement.

If you get interviewd early and don't blow it, your chances of getting in are pretty good. Depends on the school but the ones I have been following, they usually interview between 200%-400% of their class size. They assume that between 30-50% of those accepted do not eventually choose their school. So lets take a school with 100 seats, they interview 300 or so, invite 200 over several months.

Also timing is a big factor. For instance, at UoP, at this point even if you are an amazing applicant, the chances of getting in are very slim.
