how early do we get notified from schools about rejections and interviews? I just submited my aadsas, so it will prob take 4-6 weeks to get sent out to schools. I am applying to schools in ny, jersey, penn, MA, and maryland.

Different schools do it differently, some you'll hear back in a month or so, some you'll hear back in maybe 5-6 months. If you applied to Pitt, for example, they don't even start doing interviews until October, and they keep doing interviews almost into March. Many other schools though, start interviewing as early as August. As far as rejections, if you don't get a rejection in the first month or two, usually you're put into the "maybe" pile, and you're still being considered for an interview.

Oh wow...
So we can definitely get rejection letters prior to Dec 1?

NYU emailed me mid August and let me select dates for September.
Maryland didnt like me but they rejected me in Spring semester - no correspondence before that.
NJ either likes you or doesnt. so they rejected me pretty soon - end August.
Penn, send in your secondaries as soon as they tell you to (have it prepared already if you are intent on Penn). They respond pretty fast. After my interview, they let me know im in within 2 weeks.

Like vicviper said, depends on your application. if its good, you will start hearing from some of the schools in august. if they like you but not SO much they will put u in the maybe pile. for right now, sit back and try to relax.
