I'm a bit confused on the timeline as to when we receive financial aid information (scholarships/grants/loan eligibility) after we have received acceptance from a medical school.

I've submitted my FAFSA to the medical school I've been accepted to (which I was accepted to 3 weeks ago), and the other school I am waitlisted at is requesting additional documentation due May 1 (although I would imagine they want this information before an acceptance offer since traffic day is April 30).

Would anyone be able to provide some insight? I sincerely appreciate your help!

May is a common time.
Say we get accepted off a waitlist after April 30th. Can we ever expect to receive financial aid information from that institution within the 5+ days we have to make a decision?

This is why you should submit FAFSA information to places you are waitlisted/still waiting to hear from. There are some schools who can give you the aid right after the admit if they already have all your paperwork.

You should actually call the school fin aid office after sending all required documents in regarding when they can provide you with an estimate! They are usually very nice about it if they can’t or cannot! It’s understandable too

Apologies if this is a dumb question, but I keep seeing this term "financial aid package." Do the schools literally mail out packets or something? I received a phone call from a school saying that they had a scholarship that was mine if I chose to attend there. Is this kind of thing what people mean when they say "package" or are there actual, you know, packages?

The “package” can contain scholarships, loans, and an occasional but rare grant. It’ll actually be a list with dollar amounts for each type of aid awarded.

Ah. Thanks for clearing that up!
