So, now that MATCH DAY is a memory, when do you get your contract, anyway??

That leads to another question: what if you bomb Step 2CS or CK at the last minute--after signing the contract...

What happens then??? :scared: :scared: :scared:
Anyone know anyone who went through this and what happened to them??

Thanks!

I got my application for temporary license already - filled it out (its long and yu have to get fingerprinted at police station) YIKES! No contract yet, but it said that would be coming very soon.

I received both my contract and forms to fill out for my temp. license. Man, those Temp license forms are a killer!! I think it depends on your program, in regards to failing either the CK or CS. Some require you to pass the CS before you start and others do not. So, if you have not taken them yet, check with your program or I think FRIEDA might say whether or not your program require you to have passed the CS beofore you start.

I got everything FedExed to me the day after match, filled it all out that day and Fedexed it back that afternoon. Hopefully those are the only forms I have to do since it took half the day to finish them!

No fingerprints for my temp license but then want copies of Step 1 and 2 scores.

I got nothing yet.

By having not received anything yet, do you mean that you have not been mailed or fed-exed something, or that they haven't even sent out a welcome e-mail? Because if they have at least sent an e-mail or called and left a message, then I wouldn't contact them just yet.

I haven't received any correspondance from them whatsoever. I wrote my own welcome e-mail to the program director and said how excited I was to have matched there. Didn't even get a response. Why do you suggest waiting?

I received both contract and application for temporary license yesterday and the phone call from the PD on the Match day. I wrote a nice latter in response and started working on license application (which is a pain) Reading and signing contract does not take much time.

Yeah, I had the same question regarding the CS/CK. I haven't gotten CS back nor taken CK. I think the odds are in our favor that these will be passed; however, if not, I was thinking that programs would be amenable to have us along as a glorified med student, i.e., not get paid until we passed the beasts (a resident I met along the interview trail did this.).

My contract specifically says I have to have passed Step 2, otherwise it's void.

I haven't received anything by mail or fed-ex (no contract or temporary license application). However, I spoke on the phone with the PD the day after Match congratulating me.

I'm a categorical and my contract was for only 1 year?? Is that normal? Maybe they're hedging... 😀 When I get through intern year, should I ask for a 2 year contract? 😕

All residency contracts are for one year at a time.

Hmmm....that sounds like a good plan. By holding out, you might be able to work out a better deal for the remaining 2 years. However, remember, if you get hurt in your rookie year, you'll get nothing!

I got a welcome e-mail from the program secretarythe day of the match, which said that we should be getting out packets in the mail sometime this week. I haven't gotten it yet, and I am not looking forward to having to fill it out.

Me neither. 🙁 By everyone's account on this board it sounds like it's going to be a pain in the butt. 😉

Mine was long - about 8 pages, then there was all that fingerprinting, and the background check (which apparently the cop says he had that same one done - Kroll) and the malpractice insurance application, which was just as long as the license app - UGG.

Hope the contract is shorter :scared:

I have yet to receive mine as well. from my prelim as well as advanced program. 😎

Me neither. We got a welcome email that said we were going to get a bunch of emails and stuff in the mail regarding licensing, contracts, schedules, etc. but we haven't gotten that stuff yet...

I have not received anything... I am going to go to my student affairs office to find about more about the temp license in my state

Stringing us along! Will this be a preview of glorified med school BS, part II--or will we finally enter an adult world, where we are respected!?

We shall see...

I got my contract yesterday and all the stuff that comes with it. It took about an hour to finish it up. I have to go get Hep B titers and track down my last CXR. I am supposed to show up with BLS (mine expired mid-4th year) and have done some on-line testing for HIV/AIDS and domestic violence.
I'm excited - it was fun to fill it out.
Nothing about fingerprints though.

I think it is variable by state.

I just got a contract.

Also, if you are doing something with a delinked PGY 1 and PGY 2 spot, do you get your PGY 2 contract closer to the start of PGY 2?

I got my offer letter to sign and return for both my surgery prelim and my ca-1 year (different places!). I haven't gotten any license stuff or an actual contract from either.

So now I'm hearing that the contract will come in--but be unsigned. That and the fact that I hear your own Med School has to "OK" you to graduate is written into the contract: so even if you sign there is no guarantee that you are moving on to Residency...

Man, why don't you just get a signed contract from the PD? I think I know (though I could be wrong...)--this way, they are always free to say they never signed anything and you are not officially on their team in case something goes wrong with your graduation from Med School, etc...

Anyone have any insights--or even speculation--they care to share?

got mine March 29th
