Hi everyone. Little question here regarding scheduling for Part 1 exam

Around what month have you found that you/classmates typically schedule for the Part 1?

Thanks

Spring of D2 year (March)

Although I hear that our class will have the option to choose between the traditional boards and INBDE...not sure how that will change things

Wouldn't people prefer to take the boards during summer before D2 year because of the longer break they have? Also, wouldn't taking it in the spring be more stressful because you have to balance both regular school/lab work during the semester AND study for boards? Just curious!

At my school, we don't have a summer break. We have a quarter system where we have 10 week quarters with 2-3 weeks off between each quarter. Our current quarter will end in May and then we will start a new quarter that will go from June to end of August and then school will start again after labor day weekend.

The D2s at my school got one extended week of spring break to study for their boards. So essentially you lose your your spring break D2 year to study for boards. But that's 3-4 weeks of time to dedicate to nothing but boards! The few D2s I spoke with felt happy with how the school prepared them.

Also, if you are class of 2022 you can always choose to take the integrated boards which you only take once during 4th year or between 3rd and 4th year lol.

I don't even think class of 2023 and onwards will get the option to choose between both exams since NBDE part 1 is being discontinued in July 2020, soo if youre part of the class which is joining dental school this summer/fall you don't even have to worry about this lol
