when does texas schools start interviewing

Does anybody know when the interviews invite letters ' start going out in TEXas . For Baylor, San Antonio, and Houston.

also what type of questions were asked etc?

Just wanted to know when schools actually start looking at application. My application went out on june 18 2003 in the first batch. Reccommendations are out this week.

I just wanted to get a sense when schools in texas start interviewing.

I was wondering the same thing.

However, I haven't finished TMDSAS process yet. If I get the application sent off by the end of this month, do I have a chance to get in on the first round of interviews?

Not sure On That, but I have a friend who applied about a month after me, and his was not even sent out yet.

I sent my application in on May 8 2002
went out June 18, 2002 as the first batch.

TMDSAS told me that they don't start processing your stuff untill middle june. If your application was sent in may maybe middle june then I would say that your in the first round.

You should recieve a letter with a detailed look at your GRADES in school. They brake it down by year, your freshman GPA, SOPH, etc.

They do this for SCIENCE, NON SCIENCE and then by FINAL overall GPA. Interesting.
My nonscience was definetly my best year by year. Science 😕 not so good.

My advice' to you would be to call or email TMDSAS, especially talk to JEnnifer Hutchins. she was great.

Not that many people on this board are from tEXAS, so Lets start a Q/A for the texas dental application and stuff about TEXAS schools.

Last year, I turned in my application for Baylor in May. It was completed around this time and I interviewed during the last week of August (1st week of interviews). I can't remember exactly when the interview invite went out but I think it was a month before the interview. It was tough to have to wait 3 months to find out if I was accepted but it all worked out.

wow.. only 3 people + myself from texas are applying this year ? I'm getting nervous now.. and keep checking my mail everyday for last couple weeks. I sent mine in around july 9. Texas are getting more competitive this year since most of pre-meds that I know are applying dental school this cycle.

I've gotten the usually stuff from all three texas schools. They recieved my application and letters of rec letters. It was funny I got all three of them on the same day, it was freaky.

Yah now its the waiting game with interviews.

What your stats for this application cycle.

I just got through with the DAT and it was not good. It was not what i expected, I thought i was prepared and then bam it hits yah. I am shooting for retake of DAT in October . will see though.

If i get interviews with my application overall i will be happy.

Science and Overall GPA : 3.2
DAT: aa: 20
Perceptual: 19
Science: 21
reading and Quant: 19 both
not a great score those with my low GPA. I'm studying to retake it in Sept.

how did you study for your DATs
I need to know the secret, with those DAT scores your a sure in too at least one of those schools in texas.

seriously what is your secret. I don't know but I studied for this DAT for 2 and half months at least 3 hours a day and a full fledge DAT on the weekend. Still did lowsy.

I am considering taking the Kaplan class, any input. I need to get at least a 19 on all the sections. help me out anybody

Arrr... there ain't no secret. I studied sciences and PAT for 4 months using Kaplan red book,Barron book for 4 hrs/day backward and forward.. memorized everything. I broke down my last 4 wks schedule before the test:

1. first 2 wks, practice reading and quan ( no wonder I got only 19 on those subjects)and more PAT. 5hrs/day

2. 3rd wk practice tests every day from kaplan test, barron 5hs/day.

3. final week before the test which was on Friday, I booked a room at Hilton near the test center (an executive room hehee.. I paid 300/nite) from Sunday to Thursday. I called that last week "a boot camp week". In that last 5 days, I did a practice test on the topscore pro CD, one test per day and went over the wrong answers and read the kaplan book ( 1.5 hrs for each subject) from 8am till 10pm.

I checked out hotel around 9 am, ate breakfast, relaxed and took my test around 11am.

I didn't even have my organic classes before the test. I did self-studied organic chem and scored only 19 on DAT. I will finish all my org-chem classes by the end of this summer.

If your DAT scores aren't up there, try taking it again. It wont hurt you!

I had 3.4 cum GPA, but DAT was only 17. At interviews all three schools told me to retake DAT and see if I could get a higher score. I registered and a week before I was supposed to take it I got an acceptance from Houston.

I couldn't cancel that test fast enough!
