Hi Guys,

I took a lighter course schedule so it turns out I need to stay for a full summer semester (may-august).

So exactly, when does optometry school begin? September?

Do schools still offer acceptances during the summer? Because I will still be in school during that last summer semester.

I'm just confused as to how the admissions process will work when I am still in school trying to finish my degree right before Optometry School starts in the Fall.

I'm Canadian, so not sure if that changes anything.

Thanks!

It generally starts the later half of August. Have you been accepted to a school? If so, you should call to see if this summer class is acceptable. It may cause problems.:scared:

I realize some people have gotten in without a Bachelors Degree, so I mean would it be acceptable to gain an acceptance without the actual degree whilst having average stats?

i believe classes for most schools begin mid to late august, however, some schools have orientations the week before classes begin, which you should attend...so that could possibly be the first week of august.

in regards to the classes that you are taking during the summer, are they prerequisite classes? if so, many schools will not accept grades from the summer before matriculation. you should call the school to confirm.

as far as a bachelor's degree goes, depending on the school, a degree may or may not be required for admittance. Again, you should call the school to find out more information

well the classes that i need to take are not pre-requsites, they are mostly upper division science courses.

Has anyone been in this situation before?

Contacts the schools you applied to and see what they say. Every school is going to have their own stance on this.
