Hey guys, I'm at med school in NYC and I might want to move to Chicago for residency. I'm worried the Chicago PDs might pass me over for interviews because they'll assume I want to stay in NYC. Is this a legitimate concern? If so, should I somehow let Chicago programs know that I'm really interested in moving there?

Not a huge issue. I was a student in NYC and got invites in essentially every city I wanted. Moving between big cities isn't usually a concern at all. It usually only comes up (and even then, only during the interview) if you're talking about going from somewhere like NYC to somewhere like West Texas or Nebraska or Mississippi, etc. Then they may want to know what you're up to.

Thanks, good to know.
