I was wondering if it was a good sign if during the interview the interviewer spends about half the time or more talking up their school and explaining the curriculum and student life. Or do you think they would do this with every interviewee? (trying to hope for the best! 😀 )

Just curious... thanks!

My experience was that that was part of the interviewer's job. Not only are they evaluating you, but they know you're evaluating them. So if you turn out to be someone they really want at their school, they are DEFINITELY going to try and play it up.

I don't know if half the time of the interview is the norm, since you usually get talks on all that stuff during the day, but I could see it happening if you get a particularly outgoing interviewer.

Every inteviewer has a different style. They may be talking up the school to recruit you. They may be instructed to tell you about the school as part of the interview. They may sense that you are stumbling through your interview and talk to give you a chance to feel most comfortable. Or, they may be so bored that they want to talk for the sake of not hearing you talk.

The bottom line is worry about yourself and not about the interviewers.

as a student interviewer i spend a lot of time on all my interviews talking about the school.
