HI GUYS/GALS. I spent a little bit of time while my Saints beat the Bucs today to compile some data on the previous two years (2012/2013, 2013/2014) and when initial interviews are being offered. Worried that your top choice Kessler hasn't offered you an interview yet? This list may give you an idea of when programs get started. NOTE that this is only the data the first batch of interviews get sent out...but programs typically send out more than one batch per season. And also note that I doubt that SDN has enough members to make this statistically significant.

I'll update the 2014 interviews in parentheses.

does this mean that most programs have finished giving out interviews then?

Not at all. Most programs send out multiple batches of interviews. The purpose of this thread is to ALLEVIATE stress...not the opposite away around.

Think about it this way. Last year...SDN had a very similar thread with interview announcements. That thread only made it 3 pages. Our thread is already at 4 pages. So I am willing to bet that the sample size is significantly larger this year than last. Last year at this time (07Oct) only 27 of 74 programs had sent out invitations. Again...I think that this is a matter of sample size and that if we had twice the number of viewers that we apparently have now that number would have been over 50% like it is now. But that's irrelevant. What is relevant is the number of interviews given by 07Oct compared to the end of the season. Because that is what we are looking at right? We want to know if they are still handing out interviews, or if the season is closing.

Last year on 08Oct, 44 interviews were granted on SDN. On 18Nov (the last day they recorded), 172 PM&R interviews were granted on SDN. My handy dandy calculator tells me that is about 25%. So I believe that the interview season is still young. And though 59% of programs have handed out interviews...few of those programs are likely done handing out interviews (UWash, Schwab and LSU being the known three).

I think that at this point we may all double our interview count by the time the season closes. Now is NOT the time to get down for only have a few interviews...that can easily escalate. Right now I am sitting at 6, but I feel pretty confident that I can get it up to 10. But the truth is that I would rather have one program who loves me than 10 who kinda like me. Having lots of interviews can just mean a massive waste of money in time if you don't match to any of them. Good luck everyone!

You're an inspiration. I hope we're co-residents in the future. :)

Hey...if I would have wanted to cut throats, I would have done Gen Surg or Ortho. :)

j4pac, thanks for all your work. You are literally keeping me sane during this process. Hope to meet you on the trail.... assuming I get more interviews :)

this makes me strangely hopeful since some of the places i applied to are in the 50-100%, good odds despite the small sample size!

The list of initial interview invite dates is complete. I'll continue to update the initial dates of rejections.

Hello friends,

So I have a long winded story, and I'm in desperate need of some advice. I'm an MD candidate at a US med school. 217 on step 1, 223 on step 2. Had some pretty serious personal issues and ended up failing CS, I'm taking it again on Jan 26th. I applied to EM programs earlier this year (sept 29th), but over the past few months, I've decided that I wanted to go into PM&R based on an awesome rotation. I applied to 46 PM&R programs and 10 Prelim programs on 12/5. I'm super worried that all spots are filled, plus this whole step 2 cs business, plus I have two bad grades my 1st and 2nd year, which resulted in a probation. Based on my two dings (probation + cs), what do you guys think my chances of matching in PM&R are?

Please help!
