1) Do we need to ask our undergrad to send the transcript or is it done automatically?

2) What do they do? Check the grades? I thought that was the whole point of AMCAS taking 4-6 weeks to do it...

why/when would a school ask to verify your transcript?

... because, as you will learn in this process redundancy and randomness becomes the name of the game.

... Welcome to the wonderful world of redtape and bureaucracy!

once you're accepted, you'll have to send a final transcript

Ok so I need to go to my undergrad and tell them to send a transcript to them?

It seems sort of redundant and they didn't even specific it in the letters...

Schools probably will not request a final official transcript from you until this summer. That way they can verify that you finished up your undergrad in good standing and actually graduated. They can also verify that students who had not already completed the pre-med requirements did end up completing them by graduation.

I wouldn't send a transcript just yet. Wait until the school you plan to matriculate at requests it.
