Hello, I am a senior in undergraduate studying Statistics and I am about to graduate this June.
Up until my second to last quarter (this quarter) of college, I never thought about actually pursuing medicine. However, after some life changing experiences, I realized that this is my path.
The problem I am facing is that because I am a non-science major, I haven't taken any chem or bio classes yet. I transferred from a community college and took the first sequence of Physics during community college (for G.E.s) and I have enough time to finish the physics sequence by graduation at my current university. Therefore, I realized that if I take all the remaining science classes in community college after graduation(2 bio and 4 chem), I can finished by earliest, next year spring (June 2019). I have done research about application timelines and realized that I will be finishing organic chem 2 and biochem by June of next year. However, I would need to take the MCATS around April next year (latest). Probably my grades for those two classes won't go in into my apps as well. I was wondering if this was a good idea and go through this plan?
Or should I take classes slowly (possibly finish at the end of 2019) and apply two years from now (June 2020)?
It would be best to get into med school one year early, but I was wondering if it would actually be a good idea to take the mcat without finishing biochem and ochem2.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!
