I have been studying for the past 2 months and I took the MCAT a week ago. I was extremely nervous and panicked during the first two sections resulting in the decision to void the test. I felt I was prepared however as I was scoring an average of 34.5 on the last four AAMC tests. My question is when should I retake? I am planning on applying for next cycle anyways so I don't have to write immediately. I want to however take it in approximately 4 weeks so that I still have this information fresh in my mind and can study a little more by that time. Is this a good idea or should I take it in January or early next summer? I am leaning towards not taking it next summer since I want to submit my app early since I need the early submission advantage. Also if I choose the sept 1st date, I will have been in school for 1.5 weeks. I don't expect a significant amount of work by then, but it probably will hinder my studying time a bit

anyone have a recommendation/suggestion. Looks like the sept 1st spot was filled, there is a center an hour away though still available.

just take it this year.... 34.5 avg is good...

real thing is harder but curve will compensate for it... just next time don't get nervous and try to answer easy ones 100% and try to think as intelligently as possible on hard ones

That's a good AAMC FL average. You need to work on test-day nerves before your next attempt.

Are you taking the AAMC FLs under strict timed conditions? Try simulating the testing center conditions when you practice your FLs to reduce any anxiety.

Maybe you could keep reviewing content and doing practice passages lightly over this next semester. Then, during winter break, you can do some FLs (Kaplan, TPR, Gold Standard, etc.) under strict conditions and take the MCAT in January before the spring semester starts.

I am leaning towards taking it in January since I feel like I am burned out and I doubt I can study for 4 more weeks for the Sept mcat. What do I do about my kaplan program. The resources expire in October, will they extend it if I plan to take in January? And how should I study in the fall leading up to winter break? Should I just do 1-2 hrs per day to make sure the content remains fresh in my mind?

I heard they extend it if you do bad on the tests. Got a buddy who got 24 on his MCAT and they extend the online access for another 4 months. Jan sound good cuz you will have winter break free to review your stuffs over again.

If I do intend to take it in 4 weeks, how do you guys recommend I study for this? I did all the AAMC practice tests and all the EK101 verbal (weakest section). I did Kaplan FLs 1-7 so I have 4 more, but heard that 10 and 11 were not really useful. I can review content, but was wondering what I should do for applying this content?

I signed up for the Sept 1st date so that gives me another 3 weeks to study. I am not sure how to practice though. I can use Kaplan's section tests and topical tests to cover weak areas, but I finished all the FL AAMC exams and have 4 more Kaplan Fls left. Should I retake any AAMC exams?
