On the supplemental materials page of the AADSAS instruction booklet, there are descriptions of when you should send these materials to the schools. When it says, "send at the same time you send AADSAS materials" does that mean I should send them to the schools immediately, or should I wait until I know that AADSAS has sent my application to the schools?

Also, when is a good time to start making contact with the admissions officers. I would assume that I should wait until AADSAS has confirmed that they have sent the application out to the schools I requested.

And ONE more thing....My DAT is schuduled for August 28th, and I would like to get those scores (unofficial) to my schools (especially OHSU) as soon as possible without waiting the 3 weeks for ADA to send the official ones. Has anyone who has taken the DAT know of a way to get copies of your scores to send out immediately, or can you call up the addmissions office and tell them what you get (just so they can mull over my application and get it reconfirmed when the official transcripts come)?

Thanks so much for all of your useful information!
Carmel🙂

Yeah, send off the application fees as soon as you can. I sent mine off a month and a half ago, and I've been in contact with admissions offices several times now to make sure that they've received my checks, etc. I also wrote individual letters with each check, and as a result of this I've been offered an interview with one school -- and AADSAS hasn't even sent out my materials yet!

If you feel strongly that OHSU won't get your DAT scores soon enough, it doesn't hurt to call the office and let them know what you've received while explaining that they will receive the official scores shortly.

In this game of admissions their is a great deal to be said about having your items in early, being exceptionally cordial, and making life easy for the admissions office.

You will be recieving my AADSAS applcacation shortly Enclosed is the $xx application fee. Also enclosed is the 2x2 photo of myself. I have arranged with the ADA to forward my DAT scores to you. Additionally, my professors, Dr. Brown, Dr. Pink, and Dr. White will be sending letters of reccommendation directly to your school. I look forward to hearing from you. If you have any questions you may contact me at: "futuredds"@msn.com , or you may call me at 212-555-1264.

GavinC:

Did you send materials to those schools listed as "send only when an admissions officer contacts you"? Just curious.

Thanks again,
Carmel

Some schools such as UCSF and UNLV say to turn into the school letters of recommedations once your AADSAS is sent in. Dowe really have to turn in additional letters to the school, or is the letters sent to the AADSAS ok?

My letter was very similar to what steiner just wrote.

I haven't yet sent the materials that were listed as being sent "when contacted" -- I'm waiting to send those when I'm contacted.

All of the schools who request LORs be sent to them are just fine with the LORs being sent through AADSAS, don't sweat that part of the process.

Thanks for your help, fellow SDN pre-dentists. My checks and photographs and a nice letter are now in the mail destined for one of my future schools. 🙂
