I'm a DO currently an intern at an ACGME psych program. I likely will be practicing in one of the 4 states that stills requires resolution 42 papers. I was wondering, when should I apply? I went to the website today, and it looks like I can submit my application now, but then it also says I need things like proof of participation in an osteopathic conference, etc, that I obviously have not yet done. Anyone know if I can apply and then get those things in as they are completed, or is it best to have it all done at once. Also, any need to get this done now, or can it be done during PGY2 (or later). The whole thing is stupid, and may be obsolete with the new merger of all residency programs, but if it needs to be done then I'll do it. Thanks in advance for the help.

I will also be applying for res 42, my understanding is that you have to have intern year completed, but I could be wrong. I've already gone to the OMED 2012 conference so I should be good, I hope... Sorry I can't be more specific

You can apply now if you like to get the process started. However, you will not be "complete" or your application will not be reviewed until you have completed all the requirements. However, get the requirement out of the way (AOA membership, Educational Activity, have your program mail your intern year schedule), and once you finish your intern year, have your program update the AOA notifying them that you completed your intern year - once the AOA receives that, they will process your application and approve it (if you satisfy their all their requirements)

But you don't have to wait until after your intern year to submit Resolution 42 (although you could, but if you are moving to another hospital/program for your residency, it might be easier just to start the process while you can talk to your program coordinator/program director in case the AOA has any issues)

Thanks for the replies. Im not moving programs, so it seems like its no rush, but I'll probably start the process soon. The whole concept is ridiculous, but I guess we have to play their games.

I'm going to get all requirements done in PGYI and then apply in early PGYII.

Resoultion 42 is one of most important things to do correctly since it will dictate where you can practice.
