I am a little confused on when to apply to Endo. Personal example, I am a 4th year and have applied to AEGDs but would like to apply to endo for the following year. My question is this, I applied to AEGDs in the summer between my 3rd and 4th year so that way I start my AEGD once I graduate so if I want to apply to endo I need to summit my app this summer coming up? This way I won't have a year in between completion of my AEGD and starting endo? I know that endo likes to see some GP experience but if I apply to endo and get in interview I won't have even started my AEGD yet. Or do I go though my AEGD and apply then? but this way I will have to take a year off before starting. I hope this makes since.

If you are wanting to start your endo residency summer 2018 then you will want to apply next spring/summer. The application usually opens up around the end of May and it is best if you apply early.

Consider joining the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) as a pre-doctoral student. They can give you updates on the accredited training programs in Endotontics. Some programs are hospital based and start on a residency schedule, but most are hosted by university departments and start an on academic schedule an run more in line with a graduate curriculum. Programs may have different deadlines so it's best to check with each Endo program you might apply to for their specific application deadline. Good luck! It's great that you are doing an AEGD program before the endo training.

So endo programs you dont need to apply the a year before? for example, I will finish my AEGD in the summer of 2019 so I will apply in may of 2019? not may of 2018?

You apply to endo basically a year in advance of before you start. So if you want to start in the summer of 2019 you would need to apply in may of 2018. So you will inverview in July or August right after starting your AEGD program.

If its what you want to do go ahead and apply. If you happen to not get in you can just apply again and each time you will have more expereince.

You will want to apply this upcoming spring/summer. I agree with the above post as well: join the aae and go to the meeting in the springtime. It will be helpful when it comes time for the application
