So I searched around but I'm still a little confused. Should I take the MCAT in the summer between my 3rd and 4th year of undergrad (finished most of my prerequisites) and apply then or should I wait until I graduate and take the MCAT in the June after graduation and then apply. From what I understand, if i apply after graduating I have a more complete application but I have a year off until med school would start, right?

Traditionally most people take their MCAT in the spring or summer of their junior year before they start their senior year of undergrad. It works best to also apply that same summer, usually the earlier the better. I believe that the application is available early June and can be finished shortly there after.

If you take the MCAT after you graduate you will have that year off. So it's up to you. Would you like a year off after school or would you rather just transition into school? It's your call!! I personally don't like waiting so I will be starting school right after graduation.

Thanks for the help. I guess I'll take it around June so I have some time to study after exams end in April and still be able to apply early.

if you haven't already applied it's too late. you should have worked on your mcat in the womb to make sure you could take it as soon as you were out. then applying at 2, take a couple years to "find yourself/grow to a height over 2 feet" and then start med school. i'm sorry if this advice is too late...should have had a mother who was on SDN

Take the MCAT as soon as possible. Apply for medical school at or around the time you take the MCAT>

Don't wait until you graduate----residency is long enough...

I took it in June and it worked out really well.. I applied early and knew I was in halfway through my first semester of my senior year... It was nice knowing so early
