Can someone point me in the right direction.

When should I apply for 2014 admission ? what should be preferred date to take the PCAT ? I was thinking more around January 2013, does that sound feasible ?

Now, should I proceed setting up an account with PharmCas now and request to have transcript from previous institutes submitted ?

Thank you

Ill be taking my PCAT on summer 2013 and applying right after. The sooner the better. The pre-advising office told me you have a better chance when there are 300 seats available then 10.

As in the the application cycle? Then you should do so in the year...2013. Take the PCAT 1-2 year before that, and then in the summer of 2013 open up a PharmCAS account and send your transcripts to them. If you do that now, then in April the system will purge all unpaid applications and you will have to send them the transcripts again in 2013, not a wise choice.

Why take PCAT 1-2 year in advance?

While registering for PCAT, your given three choice of college to send your transcript for free that must be selected during the exam registration process. How do you avoid that ?

I have no idea why one would take it so early. July of the application cycle year gives you enough time to retake in September if needed & still be relatively early cycle. Plus, if you take it early, you have to pay Pearson to have it sent to PharmCAS in a later cycle.

Any benefit to taking the exam in January cycle ?

If it works better for you to study prior to January rather than July, by all means, do it. More time is better. The down side is that you will have to pay for the score to be sent, since it's a different PharmCAS cycle. It's nominal though, $20 I think?

I would apply as early as possible. I applied and was accepted during this admission cycle. I took the PCAT in January of 2011 and then again in July. I completed my application by September and was accepted early. Many schools do rolling admissions and they will encourage you to apply early. I personally think taking the PCAT in January was a good idea for me. If you don't do well on that PCAT you can register for the summer PCAT, do better, and still apply early. The best time to apply is as soon as you can.

Make sure you allow yourself plenty of time to do well on the PCAT, which means being able to take it 2-3 times. I did a ton better my second time as compared to my first just having the experience of taking the test once already. Also, make sure you keep a close eye on the school deadlines from Pharmcas and have your Pharmcas submitted as early as you can for those pesky schools with very early deadlines. This means don't procrastinate like I did, who originally wanted to go to Oklahoma but was too late on my LOR's and their deadline was way before all the other schools I applied to.
