When to ask for LORs

Trying to complete my app and send it this summer. When's a good time to ask for LOR? Spring break is in two weeks, and sem ends in early May for me.

If you are applying this summer you need to ask them ASAP. I asked my professors in December, and only got in 2 recs so far. Professors are notoriously slow in writing recs.

This absolutely. I waited until mid-March to ask one of the professors that I thought would write me an amazing LOR and her response was that she was absolutely booked up with writing LORs until mid August at the earliest.

Ask now, give them ample time to do it and keep pestering them about it until they're in.

I asked a couple of weeks after spring break last year. So i'd suggest to start thinking closely of who you will ask.

Ask now and stay in touch. Make sure they haven't forgotten since they're sure to be busy. Persistent but not annoying is how you should approach it.

Whats the process of them sending it? Do they mail it in envelope or scan it/ type it on a website?
