When to book accomodation?

hey I'm an international student waiting for replies from some Aussie Unis that I've applied for. I was just wondering when is a good time to start booking for accomodation in the colleges? I've heard that the residential colleges can get quite full if you don't book early, especially since the students that are applying to other courses have already known if they've been accepted or not and have started going room-hunting. Thanks
