When to buy a stethoscopes?

So I am currently have an acceptance already and walking by my school store the other day I saw that they had a sale going for stethoscopes. My question is should I buy one now to save a bit of cash or do schools provide them to M1's?

You want to wait, there might be a deal with the med school you end up attending to provide them at discounted prices. They might provide one to you free of cost (or at least rolled into your tuition). You also might receive one as a gift from a family member between now and when you need one. There is definitely NO reason to run out and buy one right now. Congrats on the acceptance!

Agreed with the others, theres no rush to purchase a stethoscope now. Our stethoscope was provided to us under a generous donation from an alum. Not all schools provide one of course, but if you have medically minded family members/friends, there's a chance that they might give you one too. If you aren't lucky enough to get one for free, you can look for one online at medical supply stores where they are usually discounted. When I was shopping for one, a store even provided free engraving too. As for which stethoscope, the Littmann Cardiology III by 3M is the most popular with medical students and I would even say most residents/physicians too.

My class did a huge group buy and most of us got the Littman Cardiology III with free engraving at a discounted price.

Ditto on the waiting. I received a cardiology III as a gift from my school during our white coat ceremony. I'm sure it helped that the 3M headquarters is only 15 minutes from campus...
