Good plan.

The cycle opens the first Wednesday in August each year.

You can always look at the application at https://portal.aacpmas.org/. All data you enter will be deleted prior to the next cycle if you enter any.

so if one were to enter all data now it will be deleted or some time during the summer - should wait till wed of Aug?

If you don't want it deleted you need to submit to at least one school which I promise is not worth the money.

Wait until first Wednesday in August or first Wednesday in September or even first Wednesday in October, chances do not change as quickly as they do in MD school. Also Aacpmas doesn't send it's first batch of applications out until the first or second week of September anyways

I'm assuming this is for Fall admissions correct? Hmm starts a lot later than med schools

I probably wouldn't even recommend applying right now with all the doom and gloom going on...

yeahhh, i would do some serious research on the issues at hand before committing to this..

Lol we're being worse than the Pharm forums....

At least they can get a job without having to depend on post graduate training, of which about 14% of our current graduates cannot obtain. It's a real problem, Maxillo, and until I hear of a legitimate solution, it will be doom and gloom in my eyes.

Hmm what should I do haha.. That's pretty scary, but I mean are people not matching due to horrible grades or are people doing well and still not matching?

There are plenty of qualified students who did not match.

any foreseeable future for podiatry? How can one land a residency - luck of the draw? How is the shortage going to be fixed, is it in the process, and 4 years down the road will it be potentially fine? That's what irks me. it might be horrible now, but who knows what the future holds or if improvements may be in place, but then again probably not. It's about risk as of now.

I am kinda confused here as to what you are looking for as a response.
Your first post sounded great. If you are taking the MCAT in July and apply as soon as possible when you get scores back, sounds great.

BUT then you go on and say you are planning on applying now? The cycle for the upcoming Fall class is still taking applications
I do feel as if it is the practice of podiatry that may be the issue with the lack of residency...or the fact that they are accepting too many people. Which is why I am terrified that if I apply in August that it will be the year they accept less applicants. If you can go through all 4yrs of podiatry school then you deserve to have your school place you into a residency. Plain, fair, and simple. Pay $200K to get a letter saying "Thank you for the money over these four years, but we regret to inform you that due to our countries lack of care for the field of podiatry we could not find a placement for you in residency."

Don't enter the data now, it will get deleted.

No I was wanting to know as to when to apply for Fall 2014 admission. I figured it out, but yea idk I feel like taking the risk and I firmly believe the majority of the people who don't match are not good applicants, that doesn't justify they shouldn't have a chance to match some day, but hey everyone out for their own. Nothing one can do for that person as a friend
