I have the option to interview at my top choice program on Dec. 1st(their first interview day) or Jan 5th. I've heard various things about interviewing early vs. late and just wanted to know, particularly from people who have matched if they think that it made any difference. I'm assuming that this issue has come up in the past but I couldn't find it when searching this forum......

By the way, I will have three interviews prior to Dec. 1st.

Thanks,

Someone actually did a study on this and showed no difference. It's on the med student part of the SAEM website.

i vote for dec 1. i did a couple of prelim interviews on the first day and was treated very well by the res coordinator because she wanted everything to go smoothly. the residents are enthusiastic and more energized, because they aren't worn down by the process. the PD also paints a more accurate picture of the program, warts and all, b/c he/she hasn't fine tuned their presentation yet. plus i think you can be remembered on the first day as well, because your group sets the baseline standard.
